Secure Annex is a platform for analyzing and managing software extensions in your environment.

What are software extensions?

Software extensions are packages which are installed into other programs to increase their capabilities. Many important pieces of software like browsers, code editors, and AI platforms allow extensions to be installed. Unfortunately, some extensions are developed with malicious intent. Their access to sensitive information while you browse, develop code, or chat with AI can pose significant risks to users. These malicious extensions often pose as useful tools on marketplaces while performing hidden functions after being installed.

How does Secure Annex work?

Secure Annex analyzes extensions present in marketplaces. It does not require installation, integration, or connection into your environment in order to function. Simply look up an extension by it’s name or identifier to understand what it does. Additionally, you can manage a list of extensions to watch for changes in disposition across ownership, visibility, version, manifest, and verdict attributes. Add a list of extensions to your watch list one by one, using a newline delimited list, or through the available APIs. Notifications will be delivered to a webhook destination when changes are detected.

Supported platforms

Secure Annex supports extension marketplaces like the Chrome Web Store, Edge Add-ons, Firefox Add-ons, Visual Studio Marketplace, and Open VSX. Some applications can install from multiple marketplaces like Edge being able to install from the Chrome Web Store. Most Chromium based browsers install from the Chrome Web Store.
